Floral Whimsical Mobile Tutorial & Newton

A special thanks to Newton for sending over their fab mattress to review. As always all opinions are mine alone:)!
We've made a couple upgrades in our baby's nursery. The first is a super soft & breathable mattress & the second is a precious floral mobile {which I'm proud to say I made}. I wanted something earthy & feminine but couldn't find exactly what I was envisioning anywhere in stores. So, I decided to grab a few things to make it myself. I love the whimsical element this brings into the nursery! Keep reading to find out how to make this for your own baby girl's nursery;).
Below are a few pictures of the finished mobile hanging in the nursery. The tutorial is pretty lengthy but it's all here if you want the step by step process:).
I mentioned earlier that we got  a new crib mattress.
It actually arrived last week, but the second the girls' laid eyes on it, they wanted to open it up & see what all the hype was about. After some initial jumping, they sprawled out on it & got to feel the comfort of Newton's Wovenaire technology.
I can't believe six and half years ago, I was in full nesting mode with our first child, shopping at an upscale baby store desperately looking for the perfect crib mattress (and failing). The biggest problem was that I had no idea what was considered "good, better or best" when it came to baby mattresses. I hadn't researched different types of fabrics & how they related to mattress safety. But being in my third trimester & feeling the pressure to finish our nursery, I bought a mattress.

I Wish I had held off a little longer & done my research prior to that shopping trip though, because it could have saved me hours of worry. Once we brought baby home from the hospital, I couldn't help but wonder if I'd made the right purchase. I am sure I'm not the only one who stresses over SIDS {Sudden Infant Death Syndrome} but my OCD tendencies tend to be amplified when I've had little to no sleep.

I feel like I'm way more educated in the world of baby & kids now, then I ever was with my first child. Maybe that's a bi-product of motherhood but in any case, I feel so much better about my decision to switch our baby's mattress to this greener & healthier option.

There are quite a few things to love about Newton's revolutionary mattress. But, what stands out in my mind the most are the safety features. The core of the mattress is made with a breathable material called "Wovenaire" {which is a mixture of 90% Air & 10% Food Grade Polymer}, and allows air to flow freely. And, so it has no harmful chemicals, making your baby's sleep that much safer.
I also really appreciate the fact that their cover can be removed & cleaned. I don't know why but my kids have horrible digestive problems when they are born & changing clothes & crib sheets is a common daily occurrence for the first three months of their life. So, being able to clean the core of the mattress as well as the outer cover does set my inner germophobe at ease!
Our baby girl is still growing strong in my tummy, but that doesn't mean this bed isn't getting plenty of use. Hayden's been begging to sleep in it, so I finally budged a couple nights ago. She absolutely loves it, and refuses to sleep elsewhere. Hopefully her attachment to it lessens in a month, so she's not fighting baby sis for the crib:)!

What are some things that let you rest easy at night?
