Kangaroo Thrills

Last year after getting back from our camping trip in Kentucky we heard about this amazing adventure zoo where the public gets to roam around & play with kangaroos. At the time I was six months pregnant and couldn't fathom getting back in the car for another 6 hours. So we postponed that outing & allowed life to settle down a bit.  Well, nine months later & life has finally "settled down" enough for us to make a trip back to Kentucky and explore this cool Australian themed park.

The park is called Kentucky Down Under and if you live near the area and are thinking about going; I suggest getting your tickets through Groupon{you save 50% on admission. You're welcome;)}.
I think we were all a little nervous when we first went in to see the kangaroos but that quickly wore off. All the animals were very used to the crowds of people coming in and feeding them and looked very calm {which helped to put me a little more at ease}.
Mallorie was so happy when she found the joey {she wouldn't let him out of her sight, she thought he was the coolest}!
Hayden loved feeding the Kangaroos, and when her little cup of carrots ran out, she just started picking up carrots in front of a sleeping kangaroo{that was obviously not eating any of them:D}.
This was the napping Kangaroo I was talking about:). Hayden got way too comfortable with him!
Although the Kangaroos were the main reason we came to the park, there was so much more to do & see than just them. One of my favorite things we did was the Mammoth Onyx cave tour! It was a short tour but with kiddos it was just perfect.

The girls were so excited to get their own flashlight and helmet & be real explorers!
After the cave tour we got to do the animal show where we learned about some feathered friends & reptiles.
Mallorie had no fear with this snake! She actually put it on her shoulders {like a scarf}, I was very impressed!
There was also a special area for people to feed Lories, and the birds were very comfortable with the public. When I walked in a bird sat on top of my head for a couple minutes. Hayden thought this place was pretty cool!
Right before we left the park the girls  got to "mine" for gems, and as you can imagine they absolutely loved it!
Mallorie also found this cool arrowhead. She couldn't wait to get home and add it to her rock collection!
We also had an opportunity to go horseback riding and it was just the perfect way to end our Kentucky trip. We all had such a fun time & the girls got to have quite a few "first-ever" experiences that I'm sure they'll remember for a long time to come!
