Many of you may already know that I just completed my first 10K since having our youngest, and it was rough! I had lofty goals of being in shape enough to complete it with a great pace, but then my gym randomly closed & I was left with running outdoors. And if you know something about the Cincinnati area it's that the weather can be quite erratic {It rains just about every other day}! So, I didn't get in as many miles as I had hoped for and spent a bigger portion of my time Latin dancing. Which I can't complain too much about, because it's been so much fun & the whole family loves it!
One thing I probably complain too much about is our laundry:D! Between training for a half marathon, dancing and boot camp, I feel like I'm always washing clothes. And that doesn't even take into consideration the rest of the family’s clothes {who do their best to permanently stain their clothing}! So today, I'm sharing 4 tried & true laundering hacks sure to help ease your laundry troubles!
Hack #1-Treat Immediately: One of the best things you can do for your clothing is to start treating the stain as soon as possible. The longer the stain remains on the fabric the harder it will be to remove, so act fast! I think it’s safe to say that we’ve all made the sad walk from the laundry room to the trash can with an item of clothing that was beyond repair. But, thankfully, those have significantly decreased over the years with the help of Shout®Trigger Triple-Acting Stain Remover
I like to keep an extra bottle upstairs in my bathroom just so I can treat garments immediately after removing them {the stain-fighting ingredients & enzymes quickly penetrate, break up & remove all the tough stains for me:D}!
Hack #2-Salt: will go a long way to help keep your dark clothing looking like new. Simply toss in a cup of salt in the rinse cycle with your dark blue, grey & purple clothing & it will keep them from fading!
Hack #3- Baking Soda: I'm not sure I'm the type of person to completely swap out my store-bought detergents for homemade ones, but if something isn't getting laundered well enough I know I can always boost my detergent by adding baking soda to it{ I add 1/4 cup to the rinse cycle}. Not only will the baking soda help the detergent to work better, but it will resist stain buildup associated with hard water, be softer and smell cleaner {since baking soda is a natural deodorizer}.
Hack #4- Removing Shoe Odor: can vary drastically from one person to another. One thing that has helped me has been to remove the insoles from my shoes and add chalk to the bottom portion {just spread out the chalk so that the powder covers the whole bottom
portion of the insole}. The chalk will absorb the moisture and help get rid of the odor. So, depending on the amount of moisture in your shoes you might need to do something else in conjunction with this method {like putting newspaper inside, or drying them with a fan}.

On my last trip to Walmart I also noticed Shout®  made stain removing wipes, called Shout® Wipes {individually packaged stain removers, umm yes please!}. So I grabbed a package of those, as well as our usual Shout® Trigger Triple-Acting Stain Remover. I'll have to update this once I've given them a try!
There you have it, my top four hacks for getting the most out of your precious clothing! I would love to hear some of your tips in the comments below:)!
