Bathroom Makeover

One of the goals I set for myself this summer was to really sink my teeth into all the projects I'd "started" earlier in the year but hadn't had the time to finish. I use the term started loosely because, all too often I'll get overzealous about a certain project and go out and purchase all the materials for it, only to get back home & forget all about it. Does this ever happen to you? It's so frustrating! But I am happy to report that this past week we finally tackled one of these projects and gave our girl's bathroom a chic & stylish makeover. Keep reading to find out how you too can make small updates for a mega impact;)!
Here's what their bathroom use to look like before the makeover. Pretty dreary, huh?
We had made a few updates to it last fall, but the space still needed more updating to transform it from it's sad little state. The main things I wanted to accomplish was repaint the cabinets, replace flooring, add hardware to the cabinets, and make it bright & cheerful. So we made a quick trip to target and picked up some decor to give the room a bit more personality, as well as a few bathroom essentials.
We started with the part that would take the longest: the flooring. The demolition part was a breeze but, the mudding and spacing took a while. The hardest part for me though was not being able to step foot in the bathroom and continue working on the updates after it was grouted {since you have to stay off of it for 24 hours }.
It looked so nice when it was all done!
The next thing on my list was to make the cabinets brighter. The chalk paint just wasn't doing it for me anymore, so I gave them a coat of ultra white paint. It's not a huge difference, but to me it was totally worth the effort!
Once the cabinets were dry, I added these darling knobs to them {they were such a great Target find}.
Next I started to add in a little color back into the room through accessories.
One thing the girls were missing and really needed was extra storage {especially near the tub area}. This three tiered rack really helps put an end to this dilemma!
Maybe now, we will have enough Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong® Mega Rolls on hand for our middle child {she'd go through a roll a day if we let her}. Since we know she has a bit of an over-consumption problem, we like to get her the Mega Rolls {they come with 4x more sheets}, we figure bigger is always better, right?!
I'm really loving the finished product!
