Whether you’re looking to train for a triathlon (like me), find a low impact sport to cross-train, or just want to add a new sport to your work out regimen, swimming is the way to go! I know it can be tough to stay fit during the colder months of the year, but I am a firm believer that if you take care of your body & fortify it, you'll be less likely to get sick! Keep reading to find out how you can hit the pool deck with a purpose & support your health with  Centrum MultiGummies!

One of my favorite things I've been doing the past few weeks is the mile swim challenge. It sounds simple enough but it typically takes 30-40 minutes to complete & it takes real effort to finish the last few laps (there are 66 laps in total).
I got a hip injury back in September, due to too many high impact workouts & poor nutrition, and it left me with horrible pain on the right side of my hip that just wouldn't go away even with rest.

After a month or so of doing absolutely nothing and just about losing hope of ever feeling like my old self again, I decided to try swimming again. I was really skeptical at first, but I'm so glad I took the plunge. It's given me a respite from the once constant pain and frustration associated with my injury as well as a much needed self-esteem boost.
I think it would be fun to do a 30 Day Swim Challenge, I don't think the distance is as important as just making it a habit and sticking with it. Regularly hitting the pool can be such a powerful form of exercise, since it benefits your cardiovascular fitness, reduces stress and increases muscle tone. Who wants to join me & get swimming 30 minutes a day for the next 30 days?!
Before we get started though, I want to share 5 things I always toss in my swim bag that  make my workout more enjoyable & help me to keep my strength.

1. Music. I love being able to listen to music during  my swim sessions. I've had a waterproof headphone system for my iPod Shuffle for the last four years and it has been heaven sent! It's such a welcomed distraction from the arduous workout, and makes the session go by very quickly!

2. Fins. I have short blade fins that help me work on my form as well strengthen my overall kick. It's a great tool for working on kick speed and strength (plus it doesn't hurt that it gets you in and out of the water faster).

3. Goggles. These are a must if you want to be comfortable while you swim!  Trust me, nobody wants to have chlorinated pool water rushing into their eyes! Plus, it will give you the clarity you need to gauge your proximity to the wall and avoid injury.

4. Water. This one is plain and simple. It's important to stay hydrated while swimming, just as with any other physical activity. Drinking water before, during and after your swim can prevent dehydration and keep you at peak performance level.

5. Take your vitamins! My favorite vitamins that I always look forward to taking are Centrum ® MultiGummies®. Here's why: Centrum® MultiGummies® is a great-tasting, easy-to-take multivitamin supplement! Plus, Centrum ® MultiGummies are gluten-free and have no artificial flavors or sweeteners (hooray!).
